News On ICE Warehouses

Apr 8: Dorian Gray from No Concentration Camps Colorado (NOCCC) gave a training on Zoom on his immigration data tool called coldCounter. coldCounter is an open-source data infrastructure project that aggregates, normalizes, and documents immigration detention data. The project produces a portable SQLite data mart that allows researchers, policy analysts, and civil rights organizations to explore immigration detention records in a transparent and reproducible way. A recording of the training is available on the NoCCUS.org website under Tools for Activists. Anyone wanting to be involved with the national coalition on hold room activism is asked to contact Dorian Gray directly.

Apr 8: Activists in Salt Lake City gathered at the warehouse site and chalked outlines of those who died in detention. Community members added personal embellishments and personal details for the individuals commemorated. People report that this was an emotional and very worthwhile protest. Activists in Salt Lake City have decided to meet every Weds. at the site and engage in protest activities.   

Apr 9: ICE filed an appeal to the PA state orders that had blocked water and sewer access until ICE provides detailed plans for such use, including expanding the infrastructure. ICE cites that the orders interfere and encroach on federal law enforcement’s ability to enforce immigration law.

Apr 13: The deadline for DHS to respond to Sen. Warren’s questions on WEXMAC has passed. So far, no news media report has surfaced indicating any such response was forthcoming.

Apr 13: (originally broke on Apr 6, with additional reporting on Apr 13), El Paso County Attorney Christina Sanchez will sue the federal government for violating the freedom of information act (FOIA) for failing to turn over plans, environmental reports, and related communications on the Socorro ICE warehouse.   

Apr 13: No ICE NH, along with other groups hosted Peter Digitale Anderson, in a Zoom call. He spoke on the lessons learned in MN during the ICE surge.  

Apr 13: The Maryland Department of the Environment issued a binding Administrative Order barring Washington county from expanding its sewer system. The existing system is incapable of handling a detention center of the size proposed by ICE at the Maryland location. The county will need to submit a comprehensive revision on the sewer system and seek state approval.    

Apr 13: (CO) Activists in Walsenburg, CO are crafting an ordinance to prevent the federal incarceration of immigrants there. Walsenburg has a former prison that was identified in FOIA documents as a possible site for ICE activation under the private contractor, CoreCivic.

Apr 14: (MD)Washington County Indivisible and Hagerstown Rapid Response organized an event where county commissioners would have to walk through the chalk body outlines of everyone who has died in detainment since Trump took office. This event happens just before the commission revisits the vote on buying riot gear for local law enforcement.

Apr 15: (MD) Rally and Pack the Court. 9AM rally outside the courthouse as a judge hears Maryland AG’s lawsuit to stop the Williamsport ICE warehouse. 10AM Interfaith Vigil & Action, in Baltimore, sponsored by the Maryland Coalition to Stop the Camps.

Apr 17: (AZ) Phoenix, AZ Activists report Trump will be attending a “Build the Red Wall” event hosted by Turning Point. With Rep. Andy Biggs and Erika Kirk, this event is part of a series focused on the 2026 midterms. Protests are planned.
