News on ICE Warehouses:

Mar 8: Construction contracts for Williamsport MD & Surprise AZ disclosed. KVG LLC ($113.1 M) was awarded a contract on Williamsport. GardaWorld Services ($313.4 M) will renovate the Surprise location. Both contractors are on the list of 109 contractors (see www.NoCCUS.org for more).  

Mar 9: Oakwood, GA. The city council passed a resolution requesting federal officials pause planning and construction of the proposed ICE warehouse detention center. The city is calling for the government to complete environmental, infrastructure, and economic impact studies. In late February, the Hall County Board of Commissions approved a 180-day moratorium on detention centers.  

Mar 10: Maryland Attorney General filed a motion to halt the Williamsport ICE warehouse site claiming the administration has breached federal environmental laws by not conducting the required reviews.

Mar 10: The Leavenworth City Commission voted 4-1 to approve a special use permit for CoreCivic. Despite protests before and after the vote, CoreCivic will now move to repurpose the former prison into an ICE facility.

Mar 12: Project Salt Box reported the delivery of 36 construction site toilets (6 vans) at Williamsport.

Mar 12: A Salt Lake City warehouse was purchased by ICE in a shocking development. Previously, Salt Lake City had won a victory when the Richie Group abandoned selling to DHS.

Mar 13: Camp East Montana (Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX) remains open. The primary operational contractor, Acquisition Logistics, has been replaced by Amentum Services INC.

Mar 16: Atlantic article: Kristi Noem Bought 11 Warehouses to Use as ICE Jails, reports that two high-ranking DHS officials are expecting a slowdown on the ICE warehouse plan as Noem departs DHS at the end of the month.

Mar 16: Social Circle, GA has turned off water and sewer services at the ICE warehouse facility set for retrofit in their community. The city is waiting to hear from DHS on how the ICE warehouse won’t exceed the current infrastructure limits.
